The 3d virtual world isn't synonymous with second life - mtv actually isn't in sl at all. They've built a standalone metaverse using the makena platform (the tech that underlies there.com.) So the question is whether mtv can create a resonant, relevant stand alone metaverse for an audience that may not think the mtv core brands themselves are relevant to them. Time will tell. (Disclosure - I've got a client, cingular, who is embedded in vmtv.)
