So what exactly does 2009 have to offer the interactive marketing community? Economic forecasts are currently just as frigid as the evening weather report. Consumer confidence is, well, less than confident. Is all lost? No, not according to the “Luxury Letter.”

Produced by Adcision the Luxury Letter is “A journal for the online marketing professional” that focuses on the luxury vertical. So as a great unknown digital frontier exists just a few short calendar days away in 2009, what effect will a bearish market play on media plans and sales.

Well, do what the Luxury Letter did and ask Rebecca Matt. Rebecca is a Senior Strategist here at Morpheus Media. She is known for keeping one finger on the pulse of the industry while always keeping another finger on her mouse in order to make informed decisions on behalf of her clients.

While no one can guarantee what 2009 will hold, Rebecca has demonstrated a history of making well-informed decisions based on multiple factors in order to help her clients accounts perform well beyond expectations.

Rebecca keep up the great work, and remember don’t give away too much…

Life isn’t always frosted cupcakes; sometimes it’s just hard. With the current economic crisis wreaking havoc on the job market, there is a good chance someone you know may have lost or will be losing his or her job this quarter. This is one of those unfortunate times of year that seems to conspire against us. As the holidays are quickly bearing down on us, the recession is being formally recognized, and the wind is constantly blowing brisk, frozen air into your face. I ask that you please take solace in knowing opportunity may be just around the corner.

Jamie Driver, one of Morpheus Media’s founding partners (and pretty much all-around cool guy), was asked to relate his experience creating Morpheus Media with the readership of the New York Post. Jamie went on to reflect that Morpheus was a creation of necessity upon the last dot.com bubble bursting. Please take a moment to read the entire piece at the New York Post.

Jamie is one of three cornerstones from which Morpheus Media has risen to cast an impressive shadow on the Manhattan skyline. From humble beginnings to industry influencer, Jamie has showed that “Tough times don’t make the man, they show what kind of man you are”. Thanks for all the hard work Jamie, we all appreciate it!

With the holiday season officially in full swing things can get hectic quickly around here. No one knows this more than the media planners here at Morpheus trying to sure up final ideas for 2009. So I just wanted to take a moment to thank our very own Vincent Mesolella for taking the time to better our community.

Vincent has been pioneering efforts from here at Morpheus in conjunction with the Food Bank for New York City to raise both donations and nonperishable. As we all know it is often those who are most deserving that often struggle the most to get the least. Vincent spent numerous hours working with the partnership here, publishers, and the entire Morpheus family to provide help to those in need during the holidays.

Last Friday NASDAQ honored Vincent and several others for their efforts. Vincent accompanied by his fellow volunteers and celebrity chef Mario Batali were invited to ring the opening bell for the NASDAQ exchange.

Vincent tells us that though the experience was exciting he hopes that the press coverage will help the Food Bank continue to make gains on the war on hunger.

So if you are interested in making a difference in someone’s life please take a moment and visit the Food Bank for New York City.

With the opening of the hit movie “Cloverfield” just barely making it into the rearview mirror, it’s wise to quickly glance at what lessons can be taken away from this latest endeavor put out by J.J. Abrams.

Lucky for us Corilyn Shropshire of the Houston Chronicle has done all the work already, which can be found here. Well at least most of the work, Morphians Rob Coghan and Halie Ritterman were invited to lend their expertise in unraveling the mysteries of the overwhelming appeal Abrams seems to have among the movie going audience.

As far as I can tell, Abrams’ strategy is one of confusion and chaos mixed with inferred meanings and cryptic messages. But that’s just me. I’m still looking for Nemo.

But for a stronger understanding of just what the magic is that Abrams has seemed to bottle, take a look at the insight Natasha Ivankovister provides in her blog post from last month.

As for me, I’m gonna keep looking for that fish.

Things move quickly in the digital space, and since ’07 has quickly become so last year, we have all begun to look forward to what the New Year will bring. There will be new clients and new projects. There will be existing relationships that evolve and new challenges put forth by old friends. If anything is certain, there will be lots to do.

But before we shoot headfirst into ’08 lets take the obligatory look back at 2007 not just here at Morpheus Media, but in the interactive marketing space as a whole. My Main Man and all around Morpheus’ stalwart Adam Broitman does a great job detailing the biggest ups and downs of the last year over at his place A Media Circ.us. Who were the biggest winners and what should the community take away from this past year’s action? Is Web 3.0 all but upon us? Should I never use the term 3.0 ever again? Where did Josh get that hat? And of course who is King? Adam does a great job letting us all know in his best post of the year “Trends and Truisms.”

And of course I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment or so to congratulate my collogues here at Morpheus Media. 2007 was a tremendous year for us all here. Besides the glaringly obvious addition of yours truly to the family this autumn (just kidding), several other key team members joined the ranks. And of course we can’t forget all the births and weddings. Congratulations to Jamie who now really has his hands full, and Jim who finally learned how to dance. We’ve been a busy bunch, so in true Morpheus fashion we ended the year in style atop the isle of Manhattan.

So a heart felt thank you goes to Shenan, Alex, and Jamie for making everything possible. And I look forward to working with everyone in the New Year.

Anick Jesdanun recently wrote an article that discusses the evolution of ad targeting and behavioral marketing. In the article Jesdanun expands on the approach digital marketers are now taking to infer relevance through the expanded collection of personal data.

Although this process of information harvesting has been in affect for some time, the level of sophistication and depth is increasing at an accelerated pace. With the recent backlash Facebook has received for its Beacon advertising, every good marketer should be keeping a watchful eye on this trend.

We here at Morpheus Media are lucky enough to have our very own all-knowing eye, Adam Broitman. Mr. Broitman who is Morpheus Media’s Director of Emerging and Creative Strategies was recently involved in the before mentioned Associated Press piece found here on USA Today.com. As always Adam’s insight and knowledge place him as a true industry authority.

As organizations such as Yahoo continue to demonstrate that data mining can be a useful tool for marketers new and innovative approaches can be taken to alert the world of the benefits of your brand. So as the digital marketplace is successfully taking all of the guessing out of the guesswork we here at Morpheus are thankful we have Adam Broitman to keep us well informed.
